Volunteer with us
We couldn’t run the sanctuary without the people who give us their time.
What’s involved
We’re a small team looking after a lot of animals, so volunteers do a bit of everything. Some of it is hands-on with the cats and rabbits, some of it is the unglamorous work that keeps the place running.
How much time you give is up to you. Some volunteers come several days a week, others manage half a day a month, and we can usually work around whatever you can offer. We just ask that you stick to the hours we agree and let us know in advance if you can’t make it, so we can arrange cover. All we ask beyond that is a minimum commitment of three months.
Everyone starts with a chat and a look round, so you can see what you’d be taking on before you commit to anything.
One thing we can’t help with: due to an existing arrangement with a local education agency, we’re unable to take individual work experience placements over the summer.
Why people stay
Most of our volunteers came for a few weeks and are still here years later. It’s hard work and it’s not always pleasant, but you’ll see nervous animals turn into confident ones, and you’ll be part of the reason that happened.
