Remember a much-loved pet in Peggy’s Forever Garden.

A quiet place to remember them

Our memorial garden is dedicated to Peggy Henderson, who founded the sanctuary in 1966. It’s open during opening hours for anyone who’d like a few quiet minutes, whether you’ve left something here or not.

Everything raised through the garden goes towards the care of the animals we’re looking after, so a tribute to one pet helps the next one through our doors.

Remembrance tags

A small engraved tag with a few words on each side, hung on the tree trunks in the garden where you can see it whenever you visit.

Remembrance plaques

A solid brass plaque, engraved with up to four lines of your own words and added to our remembrance board. Plaques are 12.5cm by 7.5cm, with 28 characters per line, and are usually ready within 21 days. We’ll write to let you know when yours is up.

Ordering a tag or plaque

Payment is by cash or cheque, made payable to the Society for Abandoned Animals, and you can post it or drop it in to the sanctuary. If you’d rather talk it through first, just get in touch.

Both come with a certificate and regular newsletter updates.

Laying ashes in the garden

If you’d like to lay a pet’s ashes here, get in touch and we’ll book a date and time with you. You’re welcome to scatter them and plant a flower above, so there’s somewhere to come back to.

You can do this with or without a tag or plaque, for a small donation of £5. Flowers are yours to bring, and evergreens tend to do best.

A donation in someone’s name

Some people would rather mark a loss with a gift than an object. If you’d like to donate in memory of a pet or a person, or ask friends and family to do the same, we’d be very glad to receive it.
