Why legacies matter to us
We’ve been going since 1966, and gifts left in wills are part of the reason. They’re the sort of donation that lets us plan properly rather than month to month, and for a charity with no government funding, that matters more than almost anything.
Your family comes first. But once they’re looked after, even a small share of what’s left can keep a pen warm and a cat fed for years.
Ways to leave a gift
A share of your estate – Sometimes called a residuary gift. You leave a percentage of whatever remains after everything else has been settled. This is usually the most valuable kind for us, and it keeps its value over time.
A fixed sum – A pecuniary gift, where you name a specific amount.
Something in particular – A specific gift, such as property, jewellery or a vehicle, which we would sell to fund our work.
Leaving a gift for something specific
Some people would rather their gift went towards a particular thing than into general funds. That’s absolutely possible, and we’re always happy to talk it though – give us a call and ask for the manager, who can tell you what we’re working towards at the moment.
